Friends of Scouting<\/em> is an annual direct-solicitation campaign, reaching out to Scout families, individuals in the community, service organizations and businesses. Friends of Scouting is one of the council’s largest sources of income (21%). Additionally, eight United Way and United Funds recognize the value of Scouting and provide 12% of the council’s annual budget. Over 84% of funds raised are dedicated to program.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It costs $153 to provide one year of quality program for each Scout.\u00a0 We encourage all units to have a family Friends of Scouting presentation.\u00a0 Please contact your District Executive to set up a date and time.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

What does a Friends of Scouting contribution provide?<\/span><\/h1>\n

  • Local programs and activities throughout the council territory<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Camp scholarships and registration fees for youths who otherwise could not participate<\/span><\/li>\n
  • A Scout Service Center in Kokomo and a field office in Lafayette that coordinate Scouting activities and provide customer service to members<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Accident and liability insurance to protect both youth and adult members<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Professional staff who counsel, guide and inspire volunteer leadership<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Camps and facilities available for year-round camping and Cub Scout family outdoor events<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Opportunities to attend summer camp and high-adventure events<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Advancement programs where Scouts are recognized for learning and achievement of goals they\u00a0establish<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Distribution and development of literature and training-materials<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Leadership training for young people who will become future community leaders<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
